The International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) Congress in Istanbul, Turkey designated 25th September as the annual World Pharmacists Day (WPD) in 2009. The day is celebrated to organize activities that promote and advocate the role of the pharmacist in improving health in every corner of the world. Each year a new theme is developed to showcase the pharmacist in their positive role on health.

The Day provides an opportunity to know about the role of pharmacists in transforming global health through a variety of health services in their communities, including advising on healthy living, vaccinating to prevent disease, and ensuring that medicines are taken correctly, thereby managing diseases well and improving quality of life. Celebrating the day also reminds the role of the pharmacists in developing safe and effective medicines and vaccines thereby promoting people’s life.

Pharmacists all over the world are working hard to stop the spread of the COVID-19, and to ensure people continue to have access to medicines they need. We should be thankful to pharmacists for their efforts during this difficult time.
