National Sales and Business Development Manager – BASF Navi Mumbai


  • To identify and develop new revenue segments for catalyst and adsorbent product lines
  • To commercialize existing products in these new segments
  • Feed into innovation and R&D unmet customer needs of large / strategically important new segments.
  • To develop channel sales partner if needed to address such new segments.
  • To develop marketing channels for reaching out to customers in these segments.
  • To develop relationships with national laboratories and institutes of repute to have BASF’s catalyst available for use from the technology development stage.
  • To familiarize oneself with BASF’s complete product portfolio of catalysts and adsorbents.
  • To evaluate market opportunity, conduct market surveys, estimate and validate market potential to generate strategic activities for new business development in the territory of South Asia
  • Conduct cold calls, validate market information, establish relationships and get the product technically approved at the customer locations
  • Travel and meet customers at their locations. 50% of time is estimated to be spent at customer locations.
  • Coordinate internally for sample dispatches and deliveries
  • To lead, design, budget, manage & execute all technical trials with institutes, partners and other customers to generate local data, validate / strengthen global claims and create competitive technical positioning for the segment
  • Meet Sales budget for revenue generation from the identified new segments
  • To propose and coordinate new product developments for customer solutions with Research and Innovation team.
  • Assimilate external and internal technical publications for periodic publications in journals, scientific forums and planned circulation amongst selected key customers, consultants and institutes
  • To conduct technical marketing activities including organizing roadshows and seminars, participating in specific conferences with customers and all related events that help to promote and support the business
  • To provide the technical consultant and troubleshooting solution, including handle/ follow-up complaints on technical related issues. Communicate the complicated technical issues of customer incoming incidents with regional and global technical team to resolve and find the most appropriate solutions
  • To establish tools and materials to facilitate effective sales and marketing efforts: local solutions towards solution set up for the segment
  • To contribute to the analysis, qualitatively or quantitatively, about customer information, market trend and competitor data to inform and improve the effectiveness of the planning, execution and optimization of marketing strategy and sales achievements.
  • To use and build database in the CRM.

Minimum Educational Qualification

  • Education: B.E. / B.Tech (Chemical), Masters or PhD in Catalysis would be preferred
  • Working Experience: Minimum 7-8 years’ relevant experience in business development. Experience of working in pharma / spec chem / Industrial Air Manufacturing will be an added advantage.
  • Self-motivator and initiative taker.
  • Willingness to travel to customer locations at least 50% of the time.
  • Technical & Professional Knowledge: hardcore techno commercial with business orientation with excellent competencies of leadership, communication skills, entrepreneurial drive, developing self & others
